[Original form] Eryuan sage, perennial herb, 20-30cm tall. The stem is erect, quadrangular, grooved, and sparsely pubescent. The rhizome is thick and the roots are twisted and long. Its leaves have long petioles; stem leaves are opposite and have petioles; leaf blades are elliptical-ovate, 3-6cm long, 1.5-4.5cm wide, with shallow teeth on the edges, sparsely pubescent on the upper side, sparsely pubescent along the vein network on the lower side, and the rest covered with reddish-brown glandular dots. There are 6 flowers in each whorl of cymes, forming a terminal raceme or racemose panicle; bracts are elliptic, shorter than calyx; pedicels are 2-3mm long; calyx is bell-shaped; the crown tube is about 1cm long, the crown brim is two-lipped, the upper lip is straight, the lower lip is 3-lobed, the middle lobe is the largest and inverted heart-shaped; the developed pistil extends below the upper lip, the filaments are about 5mm long, and the reduced stamens are small; the style is extended outward, and the tip is unequally lobed; the front of the disk is swollen. Mature nutlets not seen. Flowering period is July.
