[Original morphology] The hyphae of Xanthosporium are branched, with transverse septa, nearly transparent and colorless, and grow on the prostrate surface. Conidiophores are terminal, short and much-branched. Conidia grow at the top of the short branches of the conidia spores, are spherical, golden yellow, with tubercles on the walls, and are 12-18μm. Its sexual generation is a parasite of Hypomyces chrysospermus Tul of the subfamily Hypomyces chrysospermus. It parasitizes on the fruiting bodies of boletes, agarics and polypores. The spores are densely covered on the surface of the host and are orange-yellow in color. The fungus can also be isolated from soil.
