Alipay Wireless: As of 2012, the number of client downloads has exceeded 30 million times

On February 29, 2012, Alipay announced some data on wireless payments, showing that the number of downloads of Alipay clients has exceeded 30 million, with Android users accounting for more than half of the transactions, and the number of daily transactions is six times that of the same period last year. Alipay said that it will carry out large-scale functional upgrades to the clients of mainstream platforms in the near future.

It is understood that the number of users who use the Alipay client to pay has increased sixfold compared to the same period last year, and is surging at a rate of 60,000 users activated every day. It is worth noting that although the client is mainly used by male users, female users tend to be more active.

Alipay also announced the transaction proportion of users on different smartphone platforms, among which Android users accounted for more than 53% of the total, followed by iOS users, accounting for about 27%, Symbian still accounted for 17%, and the remaining platforms were Windows (WM+WP) accounting for 1.7%, JAVA accounting for 1.1%, and BlackBerry accounting for 0.1%.

Alipay said that it will upgrade the client of major platforms in the near future, and Symbian, Android and iOS will receive upgrade notifications one after another. The new version can check the logistics status of orders, and the cities covered by life payment (water, electricity, gas, fixed-line/broadband) will be fully synchronized with the main WEB site.

The value of mobile payment has also attracted the attention of hardware manufacturers. "Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, Tianyu, LG and other manufacturers will continue to cooperate with Alipay to promote mobile payment, and mobile phones using Alibaba Cloud OS will integrate Alipay at the system level." said the head of Alipay's wireless business unit.
