Stem usually solitary, rarely branched. 3 leaves or many leaves in whorls, leaves at the top of the stem are mostly clustered, radicular leaves are sometimes opposite; leaf blades are elliptic or lanceolate, 3-5 cm long, 5-12 mm wide, obtuse to acuminate at apex, narrowly cuneate at base; sessile. Flowers densely grown at the end of the stem, with the outer pedicels longer than the inner pedicels; calyx 5-lobed, lobes linear, about 1 cm long, with protrusions on the back, with long hairs and inconspicuous black lines; corolla yellow, 5-parted, lobes elliptic-tongue-shaped, obtuse at the apex, or slightly absent, slightly longer than sepals; stamens 5, half the length of the corolla, filaments fused into a tube at the base; style about the same length as stamens. The capsule is nearly spherical, about 4 mm in diameter. Flowering period is from May to June. The fruit ripens from June to July.
