[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Zinnia grandiflora, a plant of the Asteraceae family.

[Original form] Summer chrysanthemum is an annual herb, 30-100cm tall. The stem is erect and covered with long, stiff hairs. Leaves are opposite; sessile; leaf blade is broadly ovate or oblong-elliptic, 5-10cm long, 2.5-5cm wide, entire, base slightly cordate and clasping the stem, rough on both sides, covered with short rough hairs on the underside, with 3 veins at the base. The head inflorescence is 5-6.5cm in diameter, solitary at the branch end, without a hollow and thick peduncle; the involucre is broadly bell-shaped, with multiple bracts, broadly ovate or ovate-elliptical, the outer layer is about 5mm long, the inner layer is about 10mm long, and the edges are black; there are extended appendages at the upper end of the suspensory piece, which are purple-red and tassel-shaped triangular; the tongue flower is deep red, rose, corydalis or white, the tongue piece is obovate, with 2-3 teeth at the apex or entire, covered with short hairs above and long soft hairs below; the eustoma is yellow or orange, 7-8mm long, with ovate-lanceolate lobes at the apex and densely pubescent with yellow-brown hairs above. The achenes of female flowers are obovate, 6-7mm long, 4-5mm wide, flat, with 1 ridge in the middle of the ventral surface and on both sides, truncated at the apex, narrow at the base, and densely hairy; the achenes of symphyseal flowers are obovate-cuneate, 7-8mm long, 3.4-4mm wide, extremely flat, sparsely hairy, and with short teeth at the apex. The flowering period is from June to September, and the fruiting period is from July to October.
