[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Glehnia littoralis, a plant of the Primulaceae family.

[Original form] Perennial herb. The stems are usually clustered, 15-30cm high, obtusely quadrangular, densely covered with brown short soft hairs, and usually branched in the middle and upper parts. Simple leaves are opposite, occasionally alternate at the stem end; sessile; leaves located in the middle and upper part of the stem are smaller, ovate-elliptic to oblong-lanceolate, 3-6cm long, 1-1.8cm wide, slightly obtuse or acuminate at the apex, nearly rounded or broadly cuneate at the base, with granular glandular dots on both sides, initially covered with slightly dense small bristles, nearly glabrous when old, with 4-5 pairs of lateral veins, and inconspicuous reticulate veins; leaves in the middle of the stem are ovate, gradually narrowing to round or scaly toward the base of the stem, with obtuse apex and semi-amplexicaulous base. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils of the middle and upper part of the stem or slightly densely gathered at the entire end; pedicels 5-20mm long; calyx about 5mm long, 5-lobed nearly to the base, lobes linear-lanceolate, about 1mm wide, with short soft hairs on the back and prominent midrib; corolla yellow, radiate, 1-1.5cm in diameter, 5-lobed, fused at the base for about 1mm, lobes obovate-elliptical, about 5mm long, 3-4mm wide, rounded at the apex; stamens 5, filaments fused at the base into a ring about 0.5mm high, with the separated part about 2mm long; anthers linear, 1-1.5mm long; ovary superior, ovoid, 1-chambered, style about 3mm long. The capsule is nearly spherical, about 3mm in diameter, and brown. The flowering period is May-June, and the fruiting period is September-October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in grass on hillsides at an altitude of 1700-2200m.
