[Source] It is the whole herb of Elsholtzia ciliata, a plant of the Lamiaceae family. Harvest the above-ground parts before Mid-Autumn Festival, dry them in the sun, or use them fresh.

[Original form] Annual upright herb. Root-like. The stem is 10 to 30 cm high, with very long nodes and branches on the nodes. Leaves are opposite, lanceolate to narrowly lanceolate, 2-4.5 cm long, 0.3-0.9 cm wide, cuneate at base, acuminate at apex. The upper part has sparse serrations on the edge, is green above, gray-green below, and has very tiny glandular dots, and is hairless; almost sessile. The inflorescence is terminal and 2.5 to 6 cm long. The bracts are membranous, with purple longitudinal veins and many eyelashes, and the edges have cone-like teeth, arranged in an imbricate manner. The flowers are small, beige, and open to one side of the inflorescence. The nutlets are very small and remain in the persistent calyx. Flowering period is from September to November.
