There are many kinds of common Chinese medicinal materials in life. Many people don’t know how to choose when using them, such as hibiscus. Therefore, before choosing, you need to have a certain understanding of its efficacy and dosage. So do you know what the efficacy and function of hibiscus are? [Other names] Flower on flower (Nanyue Notes), big red flower (Han Ying Yun Fu), local red flower (Luchuan Materia Medica), big red peony flower, bell flower (Nanning City Pharmacopoeia). [Source] It is the flower of Hibiscus tiliaceae . [Original form] Hibiscus (Description of Southern Plants), also known as: red hibiscus, sun hibiscus (Description of Southern Plants), mulberry hibiscus (Youyang Miscellaneous Recipes), Buddhist mulberry (Records of Strange Things in Lingbiao), Fusang (Compendium of Materia Medica), Fusang (New Discourses of Guangdong), Shunying, small peony (Miscellaneous Discourses of Liangyue), red hibiscus. [Habitat distribution] It is often planted in courtyards, but it also grows wild. Distributed all over the country. 【Chemical composition】 The flowers contain cyanidin diglucoside, cyanidin sophoryl glucoside and quercetin diglucoside. [Pharmacological action] Hibiscus contains glycosides, which can lower blood pressure in anesthetized dogs. Intravenous injection of 40-80 mg/kg of this glycoside (not pure) can sharply lower blood pressure, which will rise slightly and then fall again for 1-2 hours. This antihypertensive effect is not affected by atropine and also reduces blood pressure in spinal cord dogs. It has a spasmotogenic effect on smooth muscles (small intestine of rats, rabbits, and guinea pigs, bronchi of rats, dogs, and rabbits, uterus of rabbits, etc.), which can be blocked by atropine. It can contract the frog's rectus abdominis muscle (0.2-1 mg/ml) and can be partially antagonized by tubocurarine. In the small intestinal smooth muscle specimens, 0.1-0.3 mg/ml of glycosides can turn to relaxation after causing contraction, and antagonize spasms caused by 5-hydroxytryptamine, acetylcholine, tissue vertigo, and barium chloride. The latter has a direct inhibitory effect on smooth muscle and does not seem to be the same substance as the spasm-inducing effect of stimulating cholesterin receptors. 【Nature and flavor】 Sweet, cold. 【Functions and indications】 Clears the lungs, resolves phlegm, cools the blood, and detoxifies. Treat cough due to phlegm and fire, epistaxis, dysentery, red and white turbidity, carbuncle, and toxic sore. [Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 1 to 3 qian (0.5 to 1 liang for fresh ones). For external use: mash and apply. [Additional prescription] For treating carbuncle and cheek swelling: grind hibiscus leaves or flowers, white hibiscus leaves, burdock leaves and white honey into a paste and apply it. (Compendium of Materia Medica) 【Excerpt】 《*Dictionary》 [Source] From "Compendium of Materia Medica". The above is a detailed description of the effects and eating methods of hibiscus flowers. Medicines like hibiscus flowers are very effective in treating diseases. However, it should be noted that when using hibiscus flowers, they need to be used in moderation and should not be used too much, otherwise it will not be of any benefit to the body. |
