[Source] Medicinal material source: The root of the Myrtle plant of the Myrtaceae family.

【Original form】 Shrub, 1-2m high. The young branches have grayish white soft hairs. Leaves opposite; petiole 4-7mm long; leaf blade leathery, elliptic or obovate, 3-8cm long, 1-4cm wide, apex rounded or obtuse, often slightly concave, sometimes slightly pointed, base broadly cuneate, initially hairy above, later becoming hairless, shiny, with gray pubescent hairs below, entire; 3 veins from base, reaching apex and united. The flower is solitary, purple-red, 2-4cm in diameter, with long stalks; the calyx tube is obovate, 6mm long, with gray hairs, 5 lobes, nearly round, 4-5mm long, persistent; the petals are 5, obovate, 1.3-2cm long; the stamens are red, numerous, 7-8mm long, and the anthers are longitudinally fissured; the ovary is inferior, 3-chambered, the style is 1m long, and the stigma is enlarged. The berry is ovate-pot-shaped, 1.5-2cm long, 1-1.5cm wide, purple-black when ripe; there are many seeds, 2 rows in each chamber. The flowering period is April-May, and the fruiting period is July-September.
