The difference between white ginseng and ginseng

The difference between white ginseng and ginseng

White ginseng and ginseng are actually both precious medicinal materials in life, but many friends are confused about the two. In fact, there are still slight differences between white ginseng and ginseng. There are many types of white ginseng, such as raw sun-dried ginseng, white dried ginseng, white sugar ginseng, etc., all of which are white ginseng. The two also have different effects in terms of efficacy.

1. What is the difference between white ginseng and ginseng?

1.1. White ginseng is a kind of ginseng. Among the processed ginseng products, all kinds of processed ginseng except red ginseng, such as raw sun-dried ginseng, sugared ginseng, and dried white ginseng, are generally referred to as white ginseng. It tastes sweet, slightly bitter, and slightly warm in nature. The meridians it enters are the lung and spleen meridians.

1.2. White ginseng can mainly produce body fluid, nourish yin and clear away heat. In clinical practice, white ginseng should be used for those who have just recovered from a febrile disease, have low body fluids or dry cough with little sputum due to dry lungs, thirst due to dry stomach, constipation due to dry intestines in the elderly, or who often have nocturnal emission and blood loss, or who want to improve their health and prolong their life.

1.3. Ginseng (scientific name: Panax ginseng), also known as Asian ginseng, is a perennial herb with fleshy roots. It mostly grows in mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forests or miscellaneous woods on gentle slopes or slopes of mountains at an altitude of 500 to 1,100 meters. Because the root is enlarged, spindle-shaped and often forked, and the overall appearance is quite similar to a human head, hands, feet and limbs, it is called ginseng.

1.4. Ginseng is mainly sweet and slightly bitter in taste, slightly warm in nature, and enters the spleen, lung, heart, and kidney meridians. It has a strong and moistening effect on the body, and it ascends more than it descends. It has the effects of replenishing qi and strengthening the body, strengthening the spleen and lungs, calming the mind and improving intelligence, and nourishing blood and producing body fluids. It is mainly used to treat serious illness, long-term illness, blood loss, dehydration caused by loss of vital energy, fatigue, weak pulse; spleen deficiency with poor appetite, fatigue, vomiting and diarrhea; lung deficiency with shortness of breath, rapid wheezing, and weak cough; heart deficiency with insomnia, dreaminess, palpitations, forgetfulness, physical weakness and sweating; thirst and polydipsia due to lack of body fluid; chlorosis and dizziness due to blood deficiency; kidney deficiency with impotence, frequent urination, and exogenous infection due to qi deficiency.

2. The efficacy and effects of white ginseng and ginseng

2.1. White ginseng treats lung heat and cough. Use half a liang of Adenophora Root and decoct it in water.

2.2. White ginseng is used to treat sudden hernia (colic pain in the lower abdomen and vagina, spontaneous hernia, almost death). Grind up Adenophora Root into powder, take one teaspoon each time, with wine.

2.3. White ginseng is used to treat leucorrhea in women. Grind up Adenophora Root into powder, take 2 qian of it each time, with rice soup.

2.4. White ginseng treats premature ejaculation, spermatorrhea, night sweats due to yin deficiency, dizziness and headache: The key to the pathology of premature ejaculation is that the kidney cannot store sperm, resulting in sperm leakage. Nocturnal emission is mostly caused by yin deficiency and excessive fire, while spermatorrhea is mostly caused by kidney deficiency.

2.5. It accelerates lipid metabolism and has a significant effect in reducing high cholesterol. Small doses of ginseng can slightly increase the blood pressure of anesthetized animals, while large doses can reduce blood pressure. Different ginseng preparations can enhance the function of isolated toad hearts and in vivo rabbit, cat and dog hearts, and improve myocardial weakness during ventricular fibrillation.

2.6. Hypoglycemic effect: Ginseng contains ginsenosides and ginseng polysaccharides. In particular, ginsenoside Rb2 has a significant hypoglycemic effect. In addition, ginseng polysaccharides (or glycopeptides) are another type of hypoglycemic component in ginseng.

3. How to eat white ginseng and ginseng

3.1. How to eat white ginseng

3.1.1. The effect of white ginseng is milder than that of red ginseng. In many places in southern my country, people like to take white ginseng, or advocate using red ginseng for tonic in autumn and winter, and white ginseng for tonic in spring and summer. Some people also advocate that red ginseng should be used as a tonic for those with weak constitutions, while white ginseng should be used as a tonic for those with better constitutions.

3.1.2. Grind into powder: Grind the ginseng into fine powder and swallow it every day. The dosage depends on personal constitution, generally 2 grams each time.

3.1.3 Stewing: Ginseng is often accompanied by a certain bitterness when eaten. If ginseng is stewed with lean pork, chicken, fish, etc., the bitterness can be eliminated and the ginseng can be used to nourish the body.

3.2 How to eat ginseng

Ginseng can be ground into powder and swallowed: take 1 to 3 grams of ginseng slices or segments daily. Dry them and grind them into fine powder, then take them with warm water. If it is ginseng powder, it can be put into capsules and taken twice a day. Patients with poor gastrointestinal digestion function should not take it.

Ginseng tea brewing method

Use more ginseng slices or ginseng roots. The daily dosage is 1 to 3 grams. Put it in a porcelain cup or glass, pour in boiling water, cover it and wait for a while. After about 10 minutes, it can be eaten. There is no limit to the amount you can drink. Drink until it has no taste. When the water tastes light, the ginseng residue can be chewed or discarded.
