【Other name】 Alnus yunnanensis

[Source] Medicinal material source: the young stems, leaves or bark of Alnus yunnanensis of the Betulaceae family.

[Original form] Tree, up to 20m high. The bark is dark grey. Buds stalked, bud scales 2. Young branches densely covered with yellow hairs, which gradually fall off later; branchlets angular and slightly hairy. Simple leaves are alternate, with petioles 1-2cm long; leaf blades are broadly elliptic, oblong or obovate, 5-14cm long, with obtuse apex, cuneate or rounded base, concave midrib above, hairy or slightly hairy along the midrib, lateral veins and near the vein axils below, densely covered with resin dots, 12-17 pairs of lateral veins, coarsely serrated with small tips. The flowers are unisexual and monoecious. The male inflorescence is catkin-shaped, solitary in the leaf axils, and drooping. Infructescence solitary in leaf axils or near base of branchlets, oblong, 1.5-2.5cm long, infructescence stalk 1-2.5cm long, hairy; nutlets oblong, with very narrow wings.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing by streams and in mixed woods at an altitude of 1800-2500m.

【Functions and indications】 Cooling blood and detoxifying. Mainly used for vomiting blood, nosebleed, diarrhea, dysentery, sores

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 10-15g. For external use: Take appropriate amount of fresh product and mash it for application.
