[Other names] Quinoa tridentata, salty quinoa

[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Atriplex canescens of the Chenopodiaceae family.

[Original form] Annual herb, 30-80cm tall. The stem has ridges and green stripes, usually branching from the base. The branches are thin and thin, often curved at the top, and slightly powdery. Simple leaves are alternate; petiole is 6-12mm long, leaf blade is ovate-lanceolate or oblong-ovate, 2-7cm long, 0.8-2cm wide, obtuse at apex, broadly cuneate at base, entire or slightly wavy, gray-green on both sides, glabrous or slightly covered with white powder on the surface, slightly covered with scaly peach-shaped membrane or white powder on the back, gradually peeling off in the later stage. Monoecious, cymes born in leaf axils, male flowers 4-digitate, early falling; female flowers in each cyme 3-10 or more; usually without perianth; with 2 bracts, edges of bracts completely fused, swollen on both sides when fruiting, with only 1-3 fixed spinous protrusions on the surface, apical margin with 3 short teeth, enclosing ovary or fruit. The fruit is flat, with a white, membranous skin that is attached to the seeds. Seeds brown, erect. Flowering and fruiting period is July to September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: grows beside fields, alkaline grasslands, salinized sandy land, lakeside and river beaches.

【Functions and indications】Diuretic and astringent. Main diarrhea

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 9-12g, fresh product can be used up to 30g; or grind into powder.
