[Other names] moth seven, rock wind seven, tiger incense, dogtail safflower, raindrop grass, blood grass, stone yellow grass, stone stalk flower

[Source] Medicinal material source: The root of the Ranunculaceae plant Thalictrum microcarpa.

[Original form] Small-fruited thrush, herbaceous plant in many places, 20-42cm tall. The whole plant is hairless. The rhizome is short, with small inverted conical roots on the fibrous roots. The stem is erect and branched at the top. Leaves are alternate; petiole 8-15cm long; leaves are two to three times trifoliate; blade 10-15cm long; leaflets are thin herbaceous with long petioles; cuneate-obovate, rhombus or ovate, 2-9.5cm long, 1.5-4.8cm wide, 3 shallowly lobed, with coarse round teeth on the edges, and flat, inconspicuous veins. Inflorescence is compound umbel; bracts are nearly spoon-shaped, about 1.5mm long; flowers are bisexual, pedicels are filiform, up to 1.5cm long; sepals are 4, petal-shaped, narrowly elliptic, about 1.5mm long, white, and fall off early; petals are absent; stamens are numerous, 3.5-6.5mm long, filaments are wider than anthers at the top, filiform at the bottom, anthers are oblong, about 1mm long, with short tips at the apex; carpels are 6-15, with thin petioles, small stigmas, almost no styles, achenes are narrowly elliptic, about 1.8mm long, with petioles 1.2mm long, and fruits are pendulous with 6 longitudinal ribs. The flowering period is from April to July, and the fruiting period is from May to August.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in the shade and wet places under mountain forests, grasslands or near rocks at an altitude of 700-2800m.

【Chemical composition】 The root contains oxopurpureine, thalicsimidine, glaucine and N-methyllaurotetanine. The whole plant contains protopine, crytopine, α-allocryptopine, berbamine and jatrorrhizine.

[Pharmacological action] 1. Anti-cancer effect. Oxo-annona has anti-cancer activity.
