The leaves at the base of the inflorescence are bract-like. The flower stalk is 50 to 90 cm high, about 3 mm in diameter, and densely covered with white hairs; the inflorescence is sparsely arranged, with 3 to 4 rows of involucres, with purple-red halos, and hard membranous. Each inflorescence contains several tubular flowers. Achenes small, with pappus at tip.

[Habitat distribution] Growing on hillsides and bushes. Distributed in Yunnan, Guizhou and other places.
