[Discussions by various scholars] "Compendium of Materia Medica Yanyi Buyi": "Toads are sweet and cold in nature, and are often eaten by people in the south. The Compendium of Materia Medica clearly states that they can be eaten and will not cause fever. Therefore, patients cook and eat them. The meaning of the Compendium of Materia Medica is that they can be roasted, dried, burned, or ash, and used in medicine, not like people in the world cook them into soup, add salt and pepper, and sip the soup. This thing can greatly induce dampness, and after a long time, the dampness will turn into heat. The Yanyi says that it can relieve fatigue and fever, not soup."
