[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole sea cockroach of the family Cockroachidae.

[Original form] Sea cockroach, body is long oval, brown, with light color on the dorsal axis. The female body is 28-28.8mm long and 9.5-10mm wide; the male body is 26-28.5mm long and 10-10.2mm wide. The front edge of the head is curved and the rear edge is slightly concave forward. There is a pair of black compound eyes, arranged obliquely on the outer side of the front edge of the head. The first pair of antennae are underdeveloped; the second pair of antennae are long whip-shaped and about 25-30 mm; the female whip has 37-38 segments, the male whip has 36-39 segments, and they bend toward the back of the body. The maxilla has 5 segments, and the inner edge of each segment is densely covered with fine spines. The thorax has 7 segments, and the left and right posterior angles of the 1st to 7th segments gradually become stronger and more pointed. Each segment has a pair of thoracic limbs, suitable for crawling. The male's first thoracic limb has a protrusion at the end of the ventral edge of the proximal segment, the seventh thoracic limb is slender, and the inner edge of the wrist segment and the proximal segment are covered with fine spines. The abdomen has 6 segments, the 1st and 2nd segments are small, and the posterior corners of the 3rd to 5th segments are sharp. The abdominal limbs have respiratory functions. The external limbs of the first abdominal limb of the male are inequilateral trapezoids, the internal limbs are smaller, and the penis is slender and conical; the second abdominal limb is smaller, and the penis is slender and conical; the external limbs of the second abdominal limb are approximately kidney-shaped. The center of the posterior edge of the tail segment is obtuse triangle. The tail limbs are slender, with the original limbs about 4 times the width. The inner and outer limbs at the end are slender and cone-shaped. The inner limbs are longer than the outer limbs, and the lengths on the left and right are not equal. There are also obvious differences between males and females.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: They live in groups, inhabit rocks in mid-high tide zone and supratidal zone or in buildings near the beach, crawl quickly, are amphibious, mainly terrestrial, like to eat algae, often feed on seaweed and kelp, and are one of the enemies of marine aquaculture.
