[Source] It is the bark of Ginkgo biloba, a plant of the Ginkgoaceae family.

【Chemical composition】 Contains tannin. The endothelium contains shikimic acid. The woody part contains 41% cellulose, 26% hemicellulose, 33% lignin, glucomannan (or galactose glucomannan), arabinose-4-o-methyl glucuronic acid xylan, and a large amount of raffinose. The heartwood is extracted with ether to obtain 5% volatile oil (including the sesquiterpene component ginkgoside), 0.52% d-sesamin and 0.15% crystalline C17H34O- with a melting point of 77-78°C. The branches contain hexacosanol and arachidyl alcohol. The melting point of male dendrosterol is 134°C, while the melting point of female dendrosterol is 137°C. Both male and female branches contain raffinose.
