[Original form] Perennial herb. The whole plant is covered with multicellular pubescence. Rhizome brown, with many fibrous roots. The petiole is 10-15cm long and covered with white or brown soft hairs; the leaf blade is ovate, elliptical or oblong, 5-10cm long, 4-9cm wide, obtuse at the apex, cordate or rounded at the base, with the margin full line or with circular wavy notches or serrations, smooth on the upper side and covered with multicellular soft hairs along the veins on the lower side. The peduncle is delicate, 15-30cm high; the umbel usually has one whorl, with many flowers in each whorl; the bracts are green, linear; the calyx is campanulate-funnel-shaped, 5-lobed, covered with short soft hairs, about 5mm long when flowering, gradually increasing in size after flowering, and up to 1cm long when fruiting; the corolla is high-footed saucer-shaped, lavender or light red, 5-20mm long, about 2cm in diameter, the tube is longer than the calyx tube, with 5 lobes, obcordate, 2-lobed at the apex, flat; there are 5 stamens, and the style is equal in length to the corolla tube. The capsule is spherical and enclosed in the calyx tube. The flowering period is from March to June, and the fruiting period is from April to July.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing under forests, beside ditches and on moist rocks at an altitude of 500-2200m.

[Cultivation] Biological characteristics: It likes warmth and requires fertile soil with good drainage and air circulation. It is resistant to moisture and avoids exposure to the sun; the seedlings cannot tolerate high temperatures. Neutral or slightly acidic soil is preferred. Avoid alkaline soil.

[Properties] Identification: The rhizome is irregularly cylindrical, brown in color, surrounded by numerous grayish white or grayish brown fibrous roots. It is brittle and easily broken. The air is weak.
