[Other names] Baiqing (Ben Jing), Biqing (Tang Materia Medica), Shiqing, Daqing (Compendium of Materia Medica).

[Source] It is the ore of the carbonate mineral azurite .

[Original form] Produced in the copper ore oxidation zone. Monoclinic crystal system. The crystals are short columnar or plate-shaped. Usually it appears in star-shaped, kidney-shaped, scattered, soil-shaped blocks or covers the surface of other copper mines and is dark blue. The streak is light blue. The luster is glassy, ​​diamond-like or earthy. Translucent to opaque. The fracture is shell-shaped and the hardness is 3.5 to 4. Specific gravity: 3.7～3.9. Brittle in nature. The test is the same as for malachite.

[Processing] "Pin Hui Jing Yao" says: "First pound it, then grind it with water until it is very fine, wait until it is dry, and then grind it for use."

【Nature and flavor】 Sour, salty, neutral. Slightly poisonous.

【Functions and indications】Expectorant, inducing vomiting, removing accumulations, improving eyesight. Treat wind-phlegm epilepsy, convulsions, eye pain, eye opacity, trauma, and carbuncle.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral administration: in the form of pills or powder. For external use: grind into fine powder and apply on the eyes or as eye drops.

[Additional prescription] ① Treat stubborn phlegm: 1 liang of gypsum (ground with water), 0.5 liang of malachite (ground with water). Grind into powder and make into balls as big as mung beans. Take 10 pills each time, with warm water. If you have phlegm, just spit out one or two bowls of it. It will not harm you. (Huatan Pills from Ruizhutang Experience Prescriptions)
