[Original form] Deciduous or semi-evergreen shrub, 2-5m high. Many branches, young branches densely covered with reddish brown or brown flat rough hairs, old branches grayish yellow, glabrous, with longitudinally cracked bark. The flower bud is ovate, with brown rough hairs in the middle of the back and eyelashes on the edges. Leaves are dimorphic; papery and shorter in spring, leathery and longer in summer, ovate-elliptic or oblong-ovate-lanceolate, 3-6cm long, 2-3cm wide, acute at apex with a short tip, cuneate at base, entire, sparsely covered with light reddish-brown strigosus on the surface, densely covered with brown strigosus on the back, more on the veins. 2-6 flowers, in umbels, clustered at branch ends; pedicels about 5-8mm long; calyx 5-parted, lobes ovate to lanceolate, 3-7mm long, densely covered with rough hairs and eyelashes on the outside; corolla broadly funnel-shaped, rose to light red, purple, 3-5cm long, 5-lobed, lobes nearly obovate, with dark red spots inside the upper 1st petal and the nearly obverse 2nd petal; 10 stamens, rarely 7-9, filaments with fine hairs in the middle and lower parts, anthers purple; ovary oval, 5-chambered, 5-8mm long, densely covered with flat long rough hairs, style slender. Capsule oval, 1-1.2cm long, densely covered with brown rough hairs, calyx persistent. The flowering period is from April to June, and the fruiting period is from July to September.
