[Other names] Ground cucumber (Classification of Herbal Properties), Green ground cucumber (Sichuan Chinese Materia Medica), Iron grass, Plow grass (Chongqing Herbs).

[Source] It is the whole herb or the whole herb with roots of Viola yedoensis , Viola longifolia or Viola nepalensis , plants of the Violaceae family. Harvest from February to July when there are flowers and fruits.

[Usage and Dosage] For internal use: decocted in water, 3-5 qian (1-2 liang for fresh ones). For external use: mash and apply.

[Clinical Application] For the treatment of early-stage inflammation of carbuncle and furuncle: mash fresh long-calyx violet and apply it to the affected area, and replace it after it dries; it can also be made into powder or ointment for use. For those with systemic symptoms, take 1 liang of dry grass and decoct it in water; or wash and mash the fresh grass into about 1 cup of juice and take it orally, the effect will be more significant. More than 40 cases were treated and all were effective.
