【Original form】Large tree, up to 20m high. The bark does not peel off, is dark brown, about 2 cm thick, and has irregular oblique cracks; the young branches have edges. Young leaves are opposite, thick leathery, ovate, about 11cm long, 7cm wide, and petiolate; mature leaves are alternate, thick leathery, ovate-lanceolate, unequal on both sides, 8-17cm long, 3-7cm wide, with glandular dots on both sides; petiole is 1.5-2.5cm long. The umbel is thick, with 4-8 flowers, and the peduncle is flattened; the pedicel is short, thick and flat; the buds are 1.4-2cm long and 7-8mm wide, the calyx tube is hemispherical or inverted conical, 7-9mm long and 6-8mm wide; the petals and sepals are fused to form a cap, which is about the same length as the calyx tube and contracted into a beak at the tip; there are many stamens, 1-1.2cm long, and the anthers are elliptical and longitudinally fissured; the ovary is fused to the calyx tube. The capsule is ovate-pot-shaped, 1-1.5 cm long, slightly contracted in the upper part, with a slightly enlarged capsule mouth, 3-4 petals, deeply hidden in the calyx tube. Flowering period is from April to September.
