The plant is 2-5m tall and has a main trunk. The petiole is black, sparsely covered with dark brown short hairs, and the lower part is densely covered with dark purple-brown linear scales, about 2 cm long, with sparse eyelashes on the edge; the leaf blade is thick and papery, and is pinnately divided three times; the pinnae are alternate, with short petioles, oblong, 50-60 cm long, about 20 cm wide in the middle, gradually pointed at the apex, with shallow teeth; the second pinnae are about 25 pairs, nearly flat, linear-lanceolate, about 10 cm long, and about 1.5 cm wide at the base; the terminal lobes are 12-15 pairs, slightly oblique, oblong, 5-6 mm long, 4-5 mm wide at the base, with shallow blunt teeth on the edge; the leaf veins are obvious below, with about 6 pairs of small veins, single; the rachis and rachis are black, and both the rachis and the rachis are covered with dark brown short hairs.
