[Original form] Perennial herb, 1-2m high. Root conical, thick, branched. The petiole of the basal leaf is 10-30cm long, with a wide sheath at the base; the leaf blade is broadly ovate, 3-divided, and 3-leaved, with lobes rounded ovate, 6-9cm long, 5-14cm wide, undivided or 3 shallowly lobed, with long pointed tip, cordate base, serrated or crenate margins, and fine prickles on the back; the leaves on the upper part of the stem are petiolate or sessile and simplified into wide sheaths. The compound umbels are terminal and lateral, with stalks pubescent; there is no involucre; the rays are unequal in length; the bracteoles are linear-lanceolate; the flowers are yellow; the calyx teeth are not obvious; the style is short and erect. The fruit is obovate or pear-shaped, with a very flat back, concave and smooth, no protruding dorsal and middle ridges, broad lateral ridges, one linear oil tube in each groove, and two commissural oil tubes. The flowering period is July-August, and the fruiting period is September-October.
