【Original form】 Evergreen tree or shrub, 1-2(-7)m high. Young branches densely pubescent or pubescent, old branches gray-black, usually glabrous. Petiole 3mm long, pubescent or sometimes glabrous; leaf blade thinly leathery, ovate, oblong, oblong-lanceolate to lanceolate, 4-8.5cm long, 1.5-3.5cm wide, apex acuminate to long acuminate, base cuneate to obtuse, margin serrate, surface glabrous except densely pubescent along midrib, dorsal surface pubescent along midrib or only at midrib base. Racemes are axillary and in the axils of branches, 4-10cm long; bracts are broadly ovate, 2-4mm long, usually falling off, with 2 bracteoles, ovate or ovate-lanceolate; calyx tube is glabrous, calyx teeth are ovate-triangular or semicircular; corolla is white, urn-shaped or campanulate, with short, narrowly triangular teeth, erect or reflexed; stamens are included, filaments are sparsely pubescent, and the anther loculus has a short spur on the back; style does not extend out of the corolla. The berries are purple-red when ripe, with slender stalks that can sometimes be up to 1 cm long. The flowering period is April-May, and the fruiting period is July-October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown under pine and oak forests or in mixed wood forests on sunny slopes at an altitude of (400-)790-2000m.

[Properties] Property identification: The fruit is nearly spherical, with a diameter of about 0.5 cm. The surface is dark purple with slight longitudinal stripes and covered with persistent calyx. It is crunchy and contains many seeds. Slight odor, slightly sour taste. .
