[Source] The leaves, root bark and stem bark of Xylosma japonicum (Walp.) A. Gray [X. congestum (Lour.) Merr.] and Xylosma longifolium Clos, both plants of the genus Quercus in the family Caryophyllaceae, are used as medicine. It can be harvested throughout the year and sun-dried.

【Nature and flavor】 Bitter, astringent, cold.

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and dampness, disperses blood stasis and stops bleeding, reduces swelling and relieves pain.

[Usage and Dosage] 3-4 qian; for external use, mash an appropriate amount and apply to the affected area. Or use the leaves and 35% ethanol to make a 30% ointment for external application or wet compress.
