[Original form] Perennial herb, 40-100cm high. The root is cylindrical, thick, brown, has fine ring patterns on the surface, and has a peculiar smell. The stem has fine longitudinal grooves and is hollow. The petiole is 9-20cm long, swollen at the bottom into a broad sac-like sheath, 3-6cm wide, with dense short hairs along the veins on the back; the leaf blade whorl is broadly ovate, 13-17cm long, 10-17cm wide, and pinnately divided two to three times; the terminal segment is ovate to oblong, with a pointed tip, gradually narrowing at the base, with blunt or irregular sharp teeth on the edge, short tips at the tooth ends, sparsely pubescent on the surface, and denser short hairs on the back; the leaves at the top of the stem are simplified into a sac-like sheath.
