【Discussions by various scholars】 ① "Compendium of Materia Medica": "Guanzhong is a great cure for women's blood and qi. Wang Haizang used it to treat summer pox that was not coming out quickly with Kuaibansan. He said that Guanzhong is poisonous, but it can eliminate the poison of evil heat in the abdomen. It is mostly effective for those with internal causes that manifest externally, which is not the ancient method of dividing meridians."

[Clinical Application] There are many varieties of Guanzhong, and most of the clinical reports from various places have not been identified.

[Remarks] The varieties of Glechoma longituba have always been very complex. In addition to the above-mentioned varieties, the rhizomes of many other ferns are used as Glechoma longituba in different regions. For example, the rhizomes of Liaodong Dryopteris are used in Henan, Shandong, and Hunan; the rhizomes of the single-bud dog spines are used in Gansu, Hunan, Yunnan, and Guizhou; the rhizomes of the multi-scale ear fern are used in Tibet; and the rhizomes of the European Dryopteris are used in Xinjiang. In addition, the mountain smilax glabra plant of the Dryopteris family is commonly known as smilax glabra, which is consistent with the smilax recorded in "Illustrated Catalogue of Plant Names and Realities". However, the rhizome of this plant is rarely used as medicine at present, and is only used by the people in some counties in Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Jiangxi and other provinces, and in Nanjing, Jiangsu and other places. See the entry for "dizzy chicken head".
