[Original form] An evergreen shrub with long petiole wild fan flowers, 1-3m tall. Branchlets have longitudinal ridges and are glabrous. Leaves are alternate; petiole is 10-15mm long; leaf blade is leathery, lanceolate, oblong-lanceolate or narrowly lanceolate, rarely ovate-lanceolate, 5-12cm long, 1.5-2.5cm wide, apex long acuminate, base gradually narrowed or cuneate, midrib is obvious, veins are glabrous, or near the base is covered with a small amount of fine hairs, below the midrib is a pair of larger lateral veins, rising from 1-5mm from the leaf base, forming three veins away from the base, the other lateral veins are slightly obvious on the leaf surface, or there are 1-2 pairs of indistinct lateral veins. Flowers are unisexual, monoecious, inflorescences are axillary and terminal, racemose or subcapitate or even compound racemose, 1-1.5cm long, and the inflorescence axis is covered with fine hairs; bracts are ovate, 1.5mm long, and gradually pointed; male flowers are 4-8, born in the upper half of the inflorescence axis, pedicels are stout, with 2 bracts, bracts are broadly ovate, about 2mm long, sepals are broadly ovate or elliptic, about 3mm long, filaments are 5mm long, and anthers are 1mm long; female flowers are 2-4, born in the lower part of the inflorescence axis, with stalks 3-4mm long, bracts are ovate, about 1.5-2mm long, and arranged in a shingle-like manner, and the sepals and terminal bracts are similar in shape. The drupe is spherical, about 8mm in diameter, brown, red or purple when ripe, with 2 persistent styles. The flowering period is September (or continues until March of the following year), and the fruiting period is December.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown under forests beside valley streams at an altitude of 350-800m.

【Properties】 Identification of properties: The twigs of this product have longitudinal ridges. The leaves are leathery or thinly leathery, with complete leaves lanceolate, oblong-lanceolate or narrowly lanceolate, 5-12cm long, 1.5-2.5cm wide, with acuminate tip, gradually narrowed or cuneate base, obvious midrib, a pair of larger lateral veins at the base, clear, and the rest of the lateral veins are indistinct. The petiole is 10-15mm long. It is crispy, has a slight odor and tastes slightly bitter.

【Nature and flavor】 Bitter; astringent; slightly pungent; cold

【Functions and indications】 Cools blood and dissipates blood stasis; detoxifies and heals sores. Mainly used for traumatic injury; traumatic bleeding; nameless swelling; mumps; jaundice
