[Original morphology] The arrow bamboo plant is shrub-like. The underground stem is monopodial. The culm is 1-4m high, with internodes 4-7cm long, 1.2-3mm thick, brown-purple in color, and many branches clustered at each node. There are a few or even several leaf sheaths on each leaf branch, 2-3cm long, glabrous, often brown-red, and the uppermost one is often dry with trichomes at the sheath mouth; the leaf blade is 6-10cm long, 6-11mm wide, glabrous, with 3-4 pairs of secondary veins and obvious small transverse veins. The raceme is terminal, 2.5-4cm long, with numerous spikelets densely distributed on one side, and the inflorescence is supported by several spathes. Because the uppermost bract is equal to or longer than the inflorescence, the spikelet is exposed from one side; the spikelet is 12-16mm long, contains 2-4 flowers, and is purple or yellow-brown when mature. The flowering period is April and the fruiting period is May.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on the edge of forests or in forests on hillsides at an altitude of 1300-2400m.
