[Original form] Perennial herb, 0.5-2m high. The root neck is long cylindrical, with a diameter of 1-1.2cm, and has obvious annular leaves; the root is cylindrical, often forked at the bottom, and has irregular longitudinal grooves on the surface. The stem is cylindrical, with many fine stripes, smooth and hairless. There is a broad leaf sheath at the base of the petiole; the leaf blade is broadly triangular-ovate in outline, 14-40cm long, 7-20cm wide, bi- to tri-partite or bi-pinnate, with 3-4 pairs of pinnae in the first period, pinnae 3-partite, lobes on both sides obliquely ovate, 2-5cm long, 1.5-5cm wide, middle lobe ovate-whip-shaped, 3-lobed or deeply lobed, slightly leathery, with coarse serrations on the edges. Umbels 7-15cm in diameter, central inflorescence up to 20cm; rays 15-30 or more, rays and pedicel pubescent; petals white, stylopodium conical. The fruit is oval, 6-7mm long, 3-4mm wide, brown or gray-brown, with linear protrusions on the middle ridge and dorsal ridge, 3 oil tubes in each groove, and 8-10 oil tubes on the commissure. The flowering period is from July to September, and the fruiting period is from October to November. The main difference between this variety and Peucedanum sphenanthera is that the plant is thinner and softer, the leaf lobes are narrower and the texture is thinner.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in grass on hillsides and in moist rock crevices at an altitude of 700-2000m. Grown in grass on hillsides and in cracks in rocks.

[Properties] Identification of properties: This product is oblong-conical, divergent or curved at the bottom, 10-25cm long, 0.3-1.5cm wide, yellow-brown in surface, with longitudinal wrinkles and lenticel-like protrusions, sometimes densely packed into rings, slightly bamboo-like. A small amount of fibrous petiole crack bases can be seen at the root head. The texture is hard but easy to break, the cross section is flat, the bark is white, the wood is yellow, the odor is slight, and the taste is slightly bitter.
