[Source] It is a volatile oil obtained by distilling the dried flower buds (clove) of the Myrtaceae plant (in ancient times, it was mostly oil extracted from mother cloves).

[Properties] It is a light yellow or colorless clear oil with a special aroma of cloves. If exposed to air or stored for a long time, it will gradually become thicker and turn yellow in color. Insoluble in water, easily soluble in alcohol, ether or glacial acetic acid. The specific gravity is 1.038~1.060.

【Functions and indications】Warms the stomach and kidneys. Treat stomach cold pain and swelling, hiccups, vomiting and diarrhea, arthralgia, hernia pain, bad breath, and toothache.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral administration: add a small amount to decoction or mix with wine. For external use: Apply to the affected area.

[Additional prescription] ① To treat severe hiccups and vomiting due to stomach cold: rub clove oil thoroughly into Zhongwan.
