[Original morphology] The body is long and narrow, slightly flattened. It is generally about 15 cm long, and can be up to 30 cm long. The head is conical with the mouth located low. The lower lip is fleshy, with a free posterior edge, two lobes on the left and right, no obvious middle lobe, discontinuous posterior lip groove, and the inner side of the mandible is slightly keratinized but does not form a sharp edge. There are 2 pairs of whiskers, which are almost equal in length and slightly longer than or equal to the eye diameter. The end of the snout reaches below the rear edge of the nostril; the end of the antlers reaches below the middle of the eyeball. Pharyngeal teeth in 3 rows, slender, with curved tips. The scales are small, and the abdomen is naked and scaleless from the gill septum to below the end of the pectoral fin; the lateral line scales are larger than the body scales, and there are large scales on both sides of the anal fin and anus. Dorsal fin III8, posterior margin of hard spines of unbranched fin rays serrated. Anal fin Ⅱ5. The back and sides of the body are bluish-gray with many irregular small black spots, and the abdomen is silvery-white.

[Habitat distribution] It lives in still water with abundant aquatic plants and muddy bottom. The spawning period is from June to July. Distributed in the Erhai Lake and Lancang River systems in Yunnan.
