[Original form] Stephania elata is a perennial herbaceous vine. There are no tubers, the stems and branches are thin, striated, glabrous or nearly glabrous, and the leaves are alternate; the petiole is 2-4cm long, attached to the near base of the leaf blade, and is inconspicuously shielded; the leaf blade is ovate-triangular (the length is greater than the width, sometimes similar), 5-10cm long, 2.5-5.5cm wide, with acuminate or mucronate apex, sometimes obtuse, nearly truncate or slightly concave at the base, glabrous on both sides, shiny above; 4-5 palmate veins, protruding below, and reticulate veins slightly obvious; papery.
