[Alias] Sarayi, horse ear fruit, dense heart fruit, pink heart fruit, star fruit, wild loquat.

[Source] Medicinal material source: The root or fruit of Saurauianapaulensis DC ., a plant of the Actinidia family.

[Original form] Nepalese water tung tree, 4-20m high. The twigs are stout, covered with tiny claw-like scales and sparsely covered with brown short hairs. Simple leaves are alternate; petioles are stout, 1.5-4.5cm long, with brown-brown awl-shaped scales and short soft hairs; leaf blades are thinly leathery, narrowly oblong, 18-35cm long, 7-13cm wide, apex gradually to pointed, base rounded or obtuse, margins with fine sharp serrations, glabrous above, covered with a thin layer of light brown or rusty bran-like hairs beneath, with sparse claw-like scales on the middle and lateral veins, lateral veins parallel, 35-46 pairs. The panicle grows in the leaf axils of the upper part of new branches, is 12-38cm long, with scales and short soft hairs; the peduncle is 5-16cm long, the pedicel is 1-2cm long, densely covered with brown short soft hairs, most of which fall off during the fruiting period; the sepals are 5, ovate, 4-6mm long; the petals are 5, lavender, nearly round, 7-8mm long, curled at the apex, and fused at the base; the stamens are numerous, and the anther pores are dehiscent; the ovary is spherical, covered with brown short fine hairs, and the styles are 4-5, fused below the middle. The berry is oblate or nearly spherical, 1-1.2 cm in diameter, green or light yellow, with 5 ribs, and the style and sepals are persistent. Flowering and fruiting period is from July to December.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in mountain forests or on roadsides near forests at an altitude of 450-1000m.

[Properties] Identification of properties: The berries are oblate, with a diameter of 7-12mm. The surface is green or light yellow, glabrous, with 5 distinct ridges; there is a residual style at the apex, and 5 persistent sepals at the base, which are elliptical or broadly elliptical and of unequal size. Slight smell, sweet taste, mostly viscous.

【Nature and flavor】 Bitter; Cool; Toxic

【Functions and indications】Disperse blood stasis and reduce swelling; stop bleeding. Mainly used for traumatic injuries; fractures; traumatic bleeding; sores, boils, swellings and infections

【Usage and Dosage】 For external use: apply appropriate amount, mash and apply or grind into powder.
