[Source] It is the bark of the fraxinus chinensis tree, a plant of the Oleaceae family. Harvest in spring and autumn, peel off the bark and dry it in the sun.

[Original form] Fraxinus chinensis, also known as: green palm wood, white ash tree, and small-leaved ash. Deciduous tree, up to 15 meters tall. The twigs are smooth and the winter buds are brown-black. Odd-pinnate compound leaves; 5 to 9 leaflets, with short petioles or sessile. Elliptical or elliptic-ovate, 3 to 10 cm long, with sharp apex, asymmetrical base, sparse and shallow serrations, smooth on both sides, hairy on the midrib and lateral veins on the back, and swollen base of petiole. The inflorescence is conical, terminal at the end of the branch with leaves, 5 to 15 cm long; the calyx is bell-shaped, irregularly 4-lobed; the corolla is absent; there are 2 stamens, the anthers are ovate-elliptical, about the same length as the filaments; the ovary has 2 chambers. The samaras are oblanceolate, 3 to 4.5 cm long and 4 to 6 mm wide. Flowering period is May. Fruiting period is October.

[Habitat distribution] Grown on hillsides, valleys, ravines, and under forests. Distributed in Hebei, Shanxi, Henan, Shaanxi, Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Hubei, Sichuan, Guizhou, Guangdong, Yunnan and other places.

[Properties and flavors] "Sichuan Chinese Materia Medica": "slightly warm in nature, pungent in taste, non-toxic."

【Functions and indications】 Treat malaria, irregular menstruation, and head sores in children.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 3 to 5 qian; or grind into powder. For external use: grind into powder and apply on skin.

[Additional prescription] To treat amenorrhea: Grind the bark of white ash into powder, swallow it with half wine and half water, once in the morning and once in the evening, one dollar each time, for three days in a row. (Guizhou Herbs)
