[Source] Medicinal material source: The fruiting body of wild Trichoderma lucidum of the Trichoderma family.

[Original morphology] The fruiting body is leathery, and the cap is 3-9cm wide. Hemispherical, then fan-shaped or flat funnel-shaped; lid surface dry, with dense or coarse hairs, light violet, then light yellowish brown or ochre brown; lid margin initially rolled inward, then nearly flat, densely hairy. The flesh is thin, soft at first, then becomes leathery, and becomes corky when dry, with a slightly bitter taste. The gills are extended, dense, narrow, white to slightly red, and later light yellow-brown. The stipe is central, short, 1-3cm long and 0.2-0.8cm thick. Cylindrical, the same color as the lid, with coarse hairs, strong, leathery, and solid. The vesicles are cylindrical to rod-shaped, (45-50) μm × (10-13) μm. The spore print is white, the spores are smooth, colorless, oval, (6-8)μm×(3-4)μm.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on dead standing trees, fallen trees or stumps of broad-leaved trees such as poplar, willow and birch.

[Properties] Identification: The cap is leathery, concave in the middle, or funnel-shaped, 2-9 cm in diameter, diamond-colored, brown or rust-brown, with coarse hairs on the surface. The flesh is thin, leathery or corky. The gills are dense, narrow, unequal in length, and light yellow-brown. The stipe is leathery, lateral or sublateral, 0.5-2cm long, 0.2-1cm in diameter, the same color as the cap, with coarse hairs on the surface, and solid inside. It has a faint smell and a slightly bitter taste.

【Nature and flavor】 Bitter; slightly pungent; cold

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and detoxifies; reduces swelling; heals sores. Mainly used for sores, swelling, pain or ulcers; leprosy; waxberry poison sores

【Usage and Dosage】For external use: take appropriate amount, decoct in water for washing; or grind into powder and apply on the affected area.
