[Source] Medicinal material source: It is the root of Aralia dasyphylla, a plant of the Araliaceae family.

[Original form] Thorny shrub or tree, 2.5-7m high. The bark is reddish brown and the twigs have short, thick thorns. Leaves are alternate; petioles are glabrous, sparsely covered with a few short spines; stipules and petioles are fused at the base, and the free part at the apex is conical; leaves are large, bipinnate, up to 80 cm long, each pinna has 5-15 leaflets, with a pair of leaflets at the base, leaf blades are ovate to ovate-lanceolate, 5-14 cm long, 2.5-6 cm wide, with acuminate or caudal apex, rounded base, lateral leaflets with skewed bases, green above, grayish white below, glabrous on both sides, with wavy teeth on the edges; 7-9 pairs of lateral veins. The inflorescence is a large panicle composed of many umbels, with branches up to 55 cm long; the peduncle has brown chaff-like coarse hairs; the bracts are oblong, about 2 mm long; the calyx is glabrous, about 1.5 mm long, with 5 small teeth on the edge; the flowers are white, with 5 petals, which are oblong and recurved when blooming; the ovary has 5 chambers, 5 styles, and are free. The drupe is spherical, berry-like, black when ripe, with 5 edges and a diameter of about 3mm. The flowering period is from June to August, and the fruiting period is from August to October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in dense forests in the mountains or sparse forests in valleys at an altitude of about 1000m.
