[Source] Medicinal material source: The above-ground part of the small-leaved Lithospermum officinale plant of the Rosaceae family.

[Original form] Small-leaved stone building block, deciduous or semi-evergreen thorny shrub, 1-2m high. The branches are spreading, purple-brown when young, sparsely gray-white pubescent, dark brown when old, and glabrous. The odd-pinnate compound leaves have 15-31 leaflets, and the marginal petiole is 1.5-3cm long, 1-1.5cm wide, nearly glabrous; stipules are lanceolate, caducous early; leaflets are elliptic, oblong-elliptic or obovate-oblong, 3-5mm long, 2-4mm wide, with a sharp lake or short pointed tip, dark green on the surface, and sparsely short pubescent on the back; leaflets are nearly sessile; rachis has fierce wings; flowers are bisexual, corymbs are at the top of branches, with 3-8 flowers; peduncle and pedicel are both sparsely pubescent; bracts are linear-lanceolate, pubescent, and sometimes caducous; calyx lobes are 5, ovate-triangular, nearly as long as the calyx tube; petals are 5, narrowly ovate, white; stamens are 20, styles are 5, pubescent at the base, and stigmas are capitate. The pear fruit is oval, 5-6mm in diameter, blue-black in color, and the persistent calyx is reflexed. The flowering period is April-May, and the fruiting period is August-September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown on hillsides at an altitude of 750-2700m, roadsides, both sides of dry river valleys, pine forests and bushes.
