[Original form] Large-leafed Melia azedarach is a tree, up to 30m tall. Leaves are large, odd-pinnate compound leaves (rarely even number), alternate; petiole and main axis are 20-90cm long; leaflets are 10-21, opposite, petiolules are sturdy, about 1cm long; leaf blades are thick leathery, often with coarse wrinkles when dry, oblong, 17-26cm long, 5-7cm wide, gradually pointed and obtuse at the apex, extremely oblique at the base, the lowest leaflet is smaller, ovate, and rounded at the base; lateral veins are 15-20 pairs. Inflorescence shorter than or longer than leaves, more or less pubescent, female and bisexual flowers arranged in spikes, male and bisexual flowers arranged in spikes in spreading panicles; flowers spherical, 6-7mm in diameter; sepals round, about 3mm in diameter, usually ciliate or glabrous; petals 3, round, 6-7mm in diameter, glabrous; stamen tube nearly spherical, fused to petals at base; disk absent; ovary hairy, without style, stigma pointed, with 3 edges. The capsule is spherical and pear-shaped, 2.5-2.8cm in diameter, and hairless. The flowering period is from June to August, and the fruit matures in February to March of the following year.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in sparse woods or thickets in plains and hilly areas at an altitude of 500-1000m, sometimes cultivated on the edge of villages.
