Flowers are clustered or arranged in 1-2cm long cymes, axillary; flowers are small, about 12mm long; calyx is tubular, 5-lobed, and pubescent; petals are 5, reddish purple, unequal in size; androgynophore is pubescent at base; stamens are 10, anthers are extroverted, and there are 5 staminodes, which are linear-lanceolate; ovary has 5 chambers, each with about 12 ovules. The capsule is cylindrical, 2-2.5cm long, about 8mm wide, with a beak at the tip and densely covered with long hairs. Flowering period is from July to November.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: grows on hillside grasslands or in bushes.
