[Original form] Perennial herb, 33-100cm high. The rhizome is woody, tuberous, and densely covered with fibrous roots. The stem is quadrangular, with soluble grooves, densely covered with brown-noded long soft hairs. Leaves opposite; nearly sessile; leaf blade ovate to elliptic, 3-11.5cm long, 1.5-5.5cm wide, apex acute to acuminate, base cuneate or rounded tapering to a short, pseudopetiolate, base of upper leaves usually rounded, margin serrate except base nearly entire, pseudopetiolate with articulated wings above, base of upper leaves usually rounded, margin serrate except base nearly entire, articulated rough hairs above, densely flat and articulated long soft hairs above veins below, and the rest covered with black-brown glandular dots. The panicle is terminal or ventral, with the same hairs as the stem, but often shorter, and composed of cymes; bracts are ovate, 7-14mm long; bracts are small, ovate, much shorter than the slender pedicel; calyx is small, bell-shaped, densely covered with rough stiff hairs, with 5 calyx teeth, broadly ovate-triangular, and the calyx enlarges when fruiting, sparsely covered with short stiff hairs with nodes, without glandular dots or with obvious reddish-brown glandular dots, and more or less drooping; corolla is white, 5.5-5.8mm long, sparsely covered with fine hairs on the outside, the corolla tube is straight, widened at the top, and about 1.5mm in diameter to the throat. The flower is perfectly bilabiate, the upper lip having 4 deep round fissures, the lobes being oblong and extremely reversed, the lower lip being ovate, extended, and flat; the stamens and styles are long and extended. The nutlets are very small and oval in shape. Flowering and fruiting period is October.
