Commelina purpurogena

In everyone's life, people often accidentally discover some unknown plants. Because they are unknown, people don't pay much attention to them. When people find this plant again, they can't take their eyes off it because of the inexplicable joy. It is a strong desire for knowledge that drives people to explore more information about it.

Many people always see clusters of purple plants in front of and behind their houses. They also bloom small flowers, which look pretty, but they can't name them. As they grow up, they accidentally see this plant after reading some books and watching TV, and find out that its name is purple-leaved Commelina. This makes many people interested in it.

The sheath mouth has long white eyelashes, dark green above, green-purple edges, and purple-red below. The flowers are densely grown on the dichotomous inflorescence stalk, with linear lanceolate bracts below, about 7 cm long; 3 sepals, green, oval, persistent; 3 petals, blue-purple, broadly oval; 6 stamens, 2 of which are ventral, 3 of which are degenerate, and the other has short and slender filaments and no anthers; 1 pistil, ovate ovary, 3 chambers, long and filamentous style, and capitate stigma. The capsule is oval with 3 raised ridges. The seeds are triangular semicircular and brown. The flowering period is summer and autumn.

Growth habit

It likes warmth and humidity, is not cold-resistant, avoids direct sunlight, and prefers partial shade. It has a strong ability to adapt to drought and is suitable for fertile and moist loam.

The above is a detailed introduction to the purple-leaved Commelina. It is amazing that this special little plant can travel across mountains and rivers to come to China. However, it is rarely seen now, which is a very regrettable thing. This tells people that the current environmental protection situation has become worse and worse, and everyone should pay more attention to environmental protection.
