Dendrobium candidum

Dendrobium candidum

Dendrobium officinale likes to grow in a warm, humid, semi-shady and semi-sunny environment. It is a raw material for health-preserving diet, Chinese medicine, herbal tea, medicinal wine, moxibustion and massage, foot bath and health-care filling material.

Dendrobium candidum has the function of nourishing yin and blood, enhancing immunity, nourishing yin fluid and lubricating joints, thereby achieving the effect of strengthening tendons and bones, facilitating joints, and enhancing anti-rheumatic effects. It can not only enhance insulin activity, but also significantly lower blood sugar levels, make blood normal, promote circulation, dilate blood vessels, and lower blood cholesterol and triglycerides.

Dendrobium officinale is a perennial epiphytic herb of the Orchidaceae family. It grows on semi-shaded and moist rocks in mountains at an altitude of up to 1,600 meters. It likes warm and humid climate and a semi-shaded and semi-sunny environment and is not cold-resistant. Generally, they can withstand temperatures as low as -5°C. Dendrobium can be divided into dozens of species, including yellow grass, golden hairpin, horse whip, etc. Dendrobium officinale is the best of Dendrobium, and it gets its name because of its iron green skin. Dendrobium candidum has unique medicinal value. Its stem is used as medicine. The traditional Chinese medicine name is Shihu. It is a yin-tonifying medicine among tonic medicines. "Chinese Pharmacopoeia" says: it benefits the stomach and produces body fluid, nourishes yin and clears heat. The tender stems of a few varieties such as Dendrobium officinale are twisted into spiral or spring shapes and dried. The commercial product is called earring Dendrobium, also known as Fengdou.

1. Wild Dendrobium officinale environment: Wild Dendrobium officinale generally grows at an altitude of 100-3000 meters. It is often epiphytic on trees or rocks and likes warmth. It likes humid and semi-shady environment and is not cold-resistant. The suitable temperature for growth is 18-30℃, 16-21℃ is more suitable during the growing period, 16-18℃ during the dormant period, the night temperature is 10-13℃, and it is best to keep the temperature difference at 10-15℃. Daytime temperatures exceeding 30℃ have little effect on the growth of Dendrobium, and winter temperatures should not be lower than 10℃. Seedlings are easily frozen when the temperature is below 10℃ and have strict requirements on the environmental conditions for growth. Wild ironbark has a low natural reproduction capacity and grows slowly, and picking is currently prohibited. Although the medicinal functions of Dendrobium officinale are the best among all the other Dendrobium officinale, most of the Dendrobium officinale currently on the market are artificially cultivated varieties.

2. Artificial cultivation: Due to the harsh growth environment of Dendrobium officinale, artificial cultivation of Dendrobium officinale must overcome the technical difficulties of variety stability and prevent the degeneration of the officinale variety. Therefore, artificially cultivated Dendrobium officinale is generally divided into two types. One is grown in the source of the iron skin, which is the "authentic" origin of traditional Chinese medicine, such as Yunnan, Zhejiang and other places. It relies on the natural suitable environment and is cultivated in the form of greenhouses. Its yield and quality are more easily restricted by the local environment. The other is to use a wild simulation method, using a series of facilities and equipment to simulate the most suitable substrate, temperature, light, air quality, humidity and other environmental conditions for the growth of Dendrobium officinale, forming a professional and unique "microclimate", and then using modern agricultural management methods to control pests and diseases to ensure the stability of the variety and quality of Dendrobium officinale.

It is suitable for people diagnosed by Traditional Chinese Medicine as having yin deficiency and weak constitution, people suffering from sub-health due to excessive stress, overwork, staying up late and working overtime, people suffering from liver and lung damage due to long-term drinking and smoking, people with weak gastrointestinal tract due to irregular lifestyle, people with sore throat due to getting angry, people suffering from constipation, acne, and dry mouth due to poor fluid circulation.
