Iridaceae glycosides and iris flavonoids have anti-hyaluronidase effects in test tubes and are not blocked by cysteine. They can also inhibit hyaluronidase-induced edema in rats without inhibiting carrageenan-induced edema. It also has an inhibitory effect on ascites exudation caused by intraperitoneal injection of nitrogen mustard in rats.

Oral or injection of alcohol or water extract of Belamcanda chinensis can promote saliva secretion in rabbits. The effect of injection is faster and stronger than that of oral administration. Iridaceae glycoside has this effect. In addition, it has estrogen-like effects. It has no protective effect on X-ray injury in mice and does not prolong the sleep time of hexabarbital.
