Vitamin B17

Vitamin B17

Everyone must be familiar with vitamins. We all think that vitamins are not good for the body. Lack of vitamins may cause many symptoms. When you see vitamin B17, you think it must be good. In fact, vitamin B17 does not belong to the B vitamins. It is a compound of benzaldehyde and cyanide, called apricot kernel.

A long time ago, people believed that vitamin B17 could treat cancer, but research has shown that there is no such basis at all. Taking the so-called supplement will only increase the chance of cyanide poisoning. So what exactly does vitamin B17 do?

Amygdalin can specifically inhibit the increase in blood sugar caused by alloxan, and the intensity of the effect is related to the concentration of amygdalin in the blood. Amygdalin also has anticoagulant effects. The hot plate method and acetic acid writhing method of mice confirmed that amygdalin has analgesic effect and no tolerance; mice given amygdalin had no tail erection reaction and nalorphine-induced jumping reaction. Intramuscular injection of amygdalin 15 mg/mouse and 35 mg/mouse into mice can significantly promote the proliferation of mouse spleen T lymphocytes induced by mitogens. The right frontal and temporal lobe of rat brain was quickly frozen and stained with cytochrome oxidase. The staining system was observed by a microscopic television image measurement system and the data was processed by a microcomputer. The results showed that amygdalin could significantly increase the activity of cytochrome oxidase under cerebral ischemia. Amygdalin can enhance the activity of type I collagenase secreted by human renal fibroblasts (KFB) within the optimal concentration range and action time, inhibit the proliferation of human renal KFB and the expression of type I collagen, and induce the apoptosis of human renal KFB. The combined effect of amygdalin and Cordyceps sinensis on rat fibrotic liver hepatocytes obtained by primary monolayer culture in vitro was monitored by ELISA method, indicating that amygdalin and Cordyceps sinensis have the effect of significantly increasing the synthesis and secretion of albumin by rat fibrotic liver hepatocytes. The effect of amygdalin on the phagocytic function or rDNA activation of mouse hepatocytes was observed by injecting 99Mtc-sodium phytate into mice or using the Ag-NOR method of liver tissue printing. The results showed that amygdalin has a very significant promoting effect on its phagocytic function and rDNA activation.

Some careful people will definitely ask, is it also found in the beer we drink? In fact, there is no amygdalin in beer yeast, so don’t worry, and amygdalin-like substances themselves are non-toxic, but when they are metabolized and decomposed by β-glucosidase, they will produce toxic hydrocyanic acid. So don’t just buy health supplements blindly.
