The efficacy and function of nine-section grass

The efficacy and function of nine-section grass

There are many nine-section grasses in our lives. Nine-section grass is also called motherwort. This motherwort is a very good medicine for women. Some women even drink motherwort tea all year round. Moreover, this plant blooms in summer. Its flowers are also a rare Chinese medicine. It is very effective in treating women's menstrual disorders. So what are the effects and functions of nine-section grass?

Motherwort, also known as: Leonurus artemisia (Laur.)SY Hu F, is the whole herb of Leonurus artemisia (Laur.)SY Hu F, a plant of the Lamiaceae family and the genus Leonurus. It blooms in summer. Its dried aerial parts are commonly used in Chinese medicine. They are produced in most parts of China and are used raw or in the form of paste. It is an annual or biennial herb distributed in most parts of the country, growing in mountains, wastelands, ridges, grasslands, etc. It is picked in the summer when it grows luxuriantly and the flowers are not fully opened. It tastes bitter and cool, and can promote blood circulation, remove blood stasis, regulate menstruation, and eliminate water. It can treat irregular menstruation, fetal leakage and dystocia, retained placenta, postpartum blood loss, abdominal pain due to blood stasis, metrorrhagia, hematuria, hematuria, carbuncles and ulcers.

1. Effect on the uterus: Motherwort decoction, alcohol extract and the leonurine it contains have a stimulating effect on the uterus of many animals such as rabbits, cats, dogs, and guinea pigs. When the decoction of Motherwort is administered to the isolated uterus of rabbits, it has a stimulating effect regardless of whether the uterus is not pregnant, in the early stage of pregnancy, in the late stage of pregnancy, or after delivery. For the uterus in situ, the stimulating effect appears 30 minutes after rapid intravenous injection, and its intensity and duration of action increase with increasing dosage. In the rabbit uterine impotence test, a decoction of motherwort was used. Whether the uterus was pressurized or not, the uterus showed a significant excitatory effect 15-20 minutes after administration. The total alkaloids of Leonurus japonicus have a stimulating effect on the isolated uterus of guinea pigs, and its effect is similar to that of ergonovine. The water extract and ethanol extract of Motherwort have significant stimulating effects on both the isolated and in situ uterus. However, for the uterus in place, there is a short period of inhibitory effect before excitement, and the aqueous solution after ether extraction has no such inhibitory effect. Leonurine can increase the amplitude of the isolated uterus of rats that were injected intramuscularly with 50 mg of estradiol during proestrus or after ovariectomy. The effects of motherwort are dose-dependent. When the concentration is 0.2-1mcg/ml, the dose-tension relationship is linear, and the maximum tension is reached above 2mcg/ml. Sometimes it can be seen that leonurine has a bidirectional effect on spontaneously contracting specimens. When the lowest effective dose is used or the concentration is suddenly increased (more than 5 times the original concentration), there may be a brief inhibition of 10-20 minutes before causing excitement. High concentrations (>20mcg/ml) exhibit an inhibitory effect due to the local anesthetic effect on the uterine myometrium. The uterine contraction effect of motherwort may last for several hours but will resume after flushing. Atropine 2mcg/ml has no effect on its contraction, and has no effect on the rabbit's uterus in situ. This is because the motherwort injection prepared by the distillation method only contains volatile oil and no biological alkali. The active ingredients of motherwort that stimulate the uterus are mainly found in the leaves, have a very weak effect in the roots, and are ineffective in the stems. Take motherwort decoction orally 4-5 times, 0.1 ml each time (contains about 50 mg of dry product extracted with water). The total amount is 200-250 mg, which has certain anti-implantation and anti-early pregnancy effects on mice.

2. Antiplatelet aggregation and coagulation effect: The platelet aggregation activity in Wistar rats was increased by scalding, ice water stress and intravenous injection of ADP. The antiplatelet aggregation effect of Leonurus injection (I) in vivo was observed. The platelet aggregation ratio of rats decreased after scalding for 1 hour. The external jugular vein injection of Leonurus injection (4.4 ml/kg) (containing 2 g of crude drug) can maintain the platelet aggregation ratio of scalded rats within the normal range. In the ice water stress experiment, 12 ml/rat, containing 4g of crude drug, was injected intraperitoneally for 4 consecutive days. The occurrence rate of platelet aggregates in small blood vessels of myocardial cells of rats was significantly reduced, and the submicrostructural changes of myocardial cells were also improved accordingly. After ADP was dripped into rats, the platelet count in the blood of the group pre-injected with 1 (3ml/kg containing 6g of crude drug) preparation decreased, and the occurrence rate of platelet aggregates in the alveolar wall capillaries was significantly improved compared with the control group.

3. It has the effect of improving coronary circulation and protecting the heart: Motherwort can promote the rapid recovery of local blood microcirculation disorders caused by isoproterenol. Isoproterenol 50 mg/kg was injected subcutaneously to induce myocardial ischemia and necrosis in rats; after 24 hours, the electrocardiograms with depressed T waves and high T waves were selected, and after 4 days, the biphasic T wave electrocardiogram was selected. The animals were treated with motherwort preparations. The results showed that within 1 hour of treatment, the electrocardiograms of most animals returned to normal, indicating that coronary circulation can be improved in early myocardial ischemia (24 hours) and even lesions close to the climax of ischemia and necrosis (4 days). Subcutaneous injection of 4% isoproterenol 50 mg/kg produced mesenteric microcirculatory disorder (blood stasis) in rats, and the microblood flow immediately changed from linear to granular. After 30 minutes, intravenous injection of Motherwort Granules was performed again. After about 1.5 minutes, the microblood flow immediately changed from granular to linear, and the blocked capillaries reopened and returned to normal. Intravenous injection of 1 ml/kg of motherwort preparation can significantly increase coronary flow, reduce coronary resistance, slow down heart rate, and reduce cardiac output and right ventricular work. Arterial injection of preparation 120 mg/(raw drug)/kg can increase femoral artery blood flow and reduce vascular resistance, and has a direct dilating effect on the blood vessel wall. Rats were intraperitoneally injected with 2g/day for 4 consecutive days, and then subcutaneously injected with isoproterenol 10mg/kg. After 30 minutes, the myocardial substructure was observed. The results showed that among the 10 animals prevented by Motherwort, 7 were normal and 3 had slight changes, as shown by slight swelling of mitochondria, intercalated discs, transverse tubules, and sarcoplasmic reticulum system. In the control group, 4 animals had slight changes and 6 had obvious lesions. Therefore, Motherwort preparations have a protective effect on myocardial ultrastructure, especially mitochondria. It can significantly reduce blood viscosity and has a strong effect of increasing the red blood cell aggregation index, which can correct the disordered immune function and restore the normal balance.
