[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole plant of Ficus Taiwanii of the Moraceae family.

【Original form】 Shrub, 2-3m high. The twigs, leaf veins and petioles are sparsely pubescent when young; the branches are slender, with traces of stipules remaining. Leaves are alternate; petiole 4-6mm long; stipules long triangular, about 8mm long, early falling; leaf blade membranous, obovate-lanceolate, 4-11cm long, 1-3.5m wide, apex usually acuminate, tip sometimes up to 1m long, gradually narrow below the middle, sometimes asymmetrical, base cuneate, entire or upper part shallowly wavy or with irregular missing teeth; lateral veins and sparse reticulate veins slightly obvious on the back. The fig inflorescence (ficus) is solitary in the leaf axil, pear-shaped or nearly spherical, purple-red when mature, 6-8mm in diameter, with small tubercles on the outside, an umbilical protrusion on the apex, and the base gradually narrows into a short stalk, 2-3mm long; male flowers and gall flowers grow in the same inflorescence receptacle, and female flowers grow in another inflorescence receptacle; male flowers have 3-4 tepals and 2 stamens; gall flowers have 4-5 tepals, which are boat-shaped, with short and lateral styles; female flowers are similar to gall flowers, with 4 tepals, but longer styles and funnel-shaped stigmas. Achene. Flowering period is from April to July.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in sparse mountain forests from low to high altitudes or in wilderness, roadsides, and streams.

【Nature and flavor】 Sweet; slightly astringent; neutral

【Functions and indications】Promote blood circulation and replenish blood; promote lactation; relieve cough; dispel wind and dampness; clear away heat and detoxify. Mainly used for irregular menstruation; weakness after childbirth or illness; milk retention; cough; rheumatic pain; traumatic injury; back carbuncle; breast carbuncle; snake bite; damp-heat jaundice; acute nephritis; urinary tract infection

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 10-30g. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application.
