[Source] The stems, leaves and flower buds of Artemisia sphaerocephala of the Asteraceae family. The stems and leaves are harvested from April to August; the tender shoots and flower buds are harvested from May to July. Use fresh or dried.

[Original form] Semi-shrub, 50-100 cm high. The stem branches out from the base into clusters, with no obvious main stem. The current year's branches are purple-red, while the old branches are dark gray. The leaves are small, sessile, pinnately divided, with 2 to 3 pairs of lobes, fleshy, glabrous, linear or filamentous, 1.5 to 3 cm long, about 1 mm wide, with a small tip, and yellow-green; the upper leaves are 3-lobed or unlobed. The inflorescence capitum is ovate, arranged in a cone, with a diameter of 2 to 3 mm; the involucre is yellow-green; all the flowers are tubular, light yellow and very small. Achenes small, oval. Seeds black, elongated. Flowering period is from July to September. Fruiting period is October.

[Habitat distribution] Growing on fixed sand dunes or semi-fixed sand dunes. Distributed in Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Ningxia, Gansu, Qinghai and other places.
