The leaves are opposite, ovate or broadly elliptic, 1-2.5 cm long, convex at the apex, circular at the tip, glossy on the surface, whorled, entire; almost sessile. Leaves and flowers are milky white, with 1-2 flowers. The main stem of the herbal medicine grows from the petiole; the calyx tube is obovate, kiln-shaped; the corolla is funnel-shaped, with 4 lobes; the pistils are 4; the pistil is 1. The pome is spherical and bright red when ripe. The blooming period is April and May. The fruiting period is November-December.
